March 1st marks the beginning of a special month—one dedicated to celebrating women. But you cannot speak of women without speaking of children. Together, they are the heart of peace, yet too often, they bear the heaviest burdens in its absence. They are not just victims of conflict; they are the strongest champions of harmony.

Today, GHV/CVF had the honor of partnering with Art for Change Rwanda to celebrate peace through the transformative power of creativity. This inspiring event gave children a platform to express what peace means to them—using art to cultivate empathy, teamwork, and self-expression.

Through engaging activities like the Handprint Peace Dove, Peace Collage, and Peace Flag, children explored themes of kindness, love, and unity—translating their vision of a peaceful world into powerful artistic expressions. Each child proudly shared their masterpiece, explaining how it represents peace in their lives and communities.

But this event was about more than just art. It was a call to action—a reminder that peace is not just an abstract idea but a way of life. Through simple acts of kindness, compassion, and understanding, these children are shaping a future where peace is not just imagined but lived.

How Art for Change Rwanda is transforming lives through creativity

Seeing the struggles of vulnerable youth in Musanze, Hodari used painting, drawing, and handcrafts to offer them a path of hope and opportunity.

What began as a creative initiative quickly evolved into a holistic support system, providing education, vocational training, and a safe space for children facing hardship. Many of these children have fled poverty and unsafe conditions, forced into street life in search of survival. Without intervention, their futures remain uncertain. But through Art for Change Rwanda, they find not only a refuge but a way forward—learning skills that empower them to build brighter tomorrows.
